EDI Claims Overview

The EDI Claims module offers a way to easily monitor patient procedures and submit insurance claims to insurance companies. You can view a wealth of related clinical information, including treatment date, practice, discipline, and code. You can also view which format the claim was in, and whether it was a primary or secondary insurance claim.

When accessed, the EDI window allows you to complete a variety of actions, including printing, submitting, or batching claims for processing later. You can also correct any errors that prevent a claim from being processed.

You can directly open the EDI Claims module using one of the following methods:

  • Nav Panel > Financials section > EDI menu-item or () icon.
  • Menu bar > Actions menu > EDI....

The EDI window is divided into several tabs.

Note: The number of tabs depends on which optional axiUm+ modules you have purchased and enabled.

  • Unsubmitted Procedures: This tab allows you to review and manage all unsubmitted procedures for any of the following:
    • A specific practice
    • A specific billing doctor or fee schedule
    • A group of billing doctors or fee schedules
    • A specific insurance company or group of insurance companies

    • Tip: You can also exclude a specific insurance company or group of insurance companies.

  • Submitted Procedures: This tab allows you to review and manage all previously submitted procedures.
  • Remittance Responses: If purchased and enabled, this tab allows you to view and manage all EDI claims that have been processed by insurance companies.
  • Lockbox Payments: If purchased and enabled, this tab allows you to manage Lockbox payments submitted to Lockbox companies.
